Trust and safety professionals often find their best career development and professional growth opportunities in community with each other; even before TSPA was founded, there were pockets of trust and safety professionals all over the world working to foster these connections. “Evolving Trust & Safety Careers in Asia,” held on November 19th 2021, was TSPA’s first APAC-focused careers panel. We’re excited to give you some updates on our 2021 annual plan. Back in February, we shared our plan for the first half of the year, and we’re here to report back on our progress and share our plans for the rest of the year. In the first six months of 2021, we welcomed five new companies as annual corporate supporters.
Today, we are proud to publish the first two chapters of TSPA’s Trust and Safety Curriculum: Creating and Enforcing Policy, and Transparency Reporting. This curriculum is written by TPSA’s Curriculum Working Group, and we are excited to share what they have produced.

It’s April, which means it’s time for an update on our H1 goals. We’re excited to share what we’ve been working on. We’ve got exciting updates on how TSPA is growing, more information about our programs and partnerships, and how we’ll be convening with you – our community.
As TSPA and TSF’s new Executive Director, it is my delight to share some of what you can expect from us over the next six months. We’re fresh into a new year, and it’s already clear that 2021 is going to be a big one in trust and safety. With our working groups in full swing and new members joining every week, it’s easy to get carried away in the day-to-day operations of our organization; it’s important to me to slow down and give you a peek into what we’ve got planned for H1.
We are thrilled to announce that Charlotte Willner will be the founding Executive Director of the Trust & Safety Professional Association (TSPA) and its sibling organization, the Trust & Safety Foundation Project (TSF). We launched TSPA and TSF earlier this year to support the global community of professionals who develop and enforce principles and policies that define acceptable behavior online, and to improve society’s understanding of trust and safety. We are delighted that Charlotte will start at the helm of both organizations next month.
We want to take a moment to acknowledge the fraught times we are living in right now. Some people are awakening to the brutal reality of systemic racism and police violence that others have long experienced. People are on the streets, protesting and demanding social justice. All of this is happening at the same time that people around the world are struggling with and dying from COVID-19, with many more facing extreme economic or mental health hardships.
