TSPA Updates

April 2021 – H1 Roadmap Update

It’s April, which means it’s time for an update on our H1 goals. We’re excited to share what we’ve been working on. We’ve got exciting updates on how TSPA is growing, more information about our programs and partnerships, and how we’ll be convening with you – our community.

Our H1 2021 Roadmap

As TSPA and TSF’s new Executive Director, it is my delight to share some of what you can expect from us over the next six months. We’re fresh into a new year, and it’s already clear that 2021 is going to be a big one in trust and safety. With our working groups in full swing and new members joining every week, it’s easy to get carried away in the day-to-day operations of our organization; it’s important to me to slow down and give you a peek into what we’ve got planned for H1.

Announcing Charlotte Willner as Founding Executive Director of TSPA and TSF

We are thrilled to announce that Charlotte Willner will be the founding Executive Director of the Trust & Safety Professional Association (TSPA) and its sibling organization, the Trust & Safety Foundation Project (TSF). We launched TSPA and TSF earlier this year to support the global community of professionals who develop and enforce principles and policies that define acceptable behavior online, and to improve society’s understanding of trust and safety. We are delighted that Charlotte will start at the helm of both organizations next month.

New organizations dedicated to online trust and safety

We want to take a moment to acknowledge the fraught times we are living in right now. Some people are awakening to the brutal reality of systemic racism and police violence that others have long experienced. People are on the streets, protesting and demanding social justice. All of this is happening at the same time that people around the world are struggling with and dying from COVID-19, with many more facing extreme economic or mental health hardships.

A Pre-History of the Trust & Safety Professional Association (TSPA)

By Eric Goldman, Co-Founder and Board, Trust & Safety Professional Association. I am part of a team that announced today the launch of two organizations, the Trust & Safety Professional Association (TSPA) and the Trust & Safety Foundation Project (TSF). TSPA will support the global community of professionals who develop and enforce principles and policies that define acceptable behavior online. TSF will focus on improving society’s understanding of trust and safety through educational programs and multidisciplinary research. This post explains my perspectives on how we got here.
