Director of Partnerships & Revenue

About the Position

The Director of Partnerships and Revenue will work with the executive leadership team to determine revenue goals and develop a strategy that focuses on sustaining and growing current revenue. A critical part of this role will be to develop and maintain relationships with key funders and champions. This role also requires the ability to evaluate potential funders, develop marketing materials, and communicate value and impact. Because TSPA’s core revenue base are membership dues and corporate funders, an ideal candidate will have experience and a proven track record in fundraising with corporate funders, membership drives, and conference sponsorships. 

Responsibilities

Strategy & Development

  • Develop and implement an overall revenue strategy for TSPA, one that is inclusive of (1) corporate support, (2) conference sponsorship, and (3) membership dues. 
  • Create an annual revenue plan to support the TSPA’s operations, as well as its long-term development.
  • Develop persuasive marketing strategy (for each funding stream), that helps potential funders understand their opportunities and the value they receive for giving to TSPA. Materials may include pitches, website content, handouts, and any material.
  • Integrate development initiatives into TSPA’s overall organizational strategy.

Funder Management

  • Strategize and work with the executive team to cultivate and inspire prospective supporters to become donors; increase the number of donors or donation amount to TSPA’S annual operating fund.
  • Build upon existing relationships and improve donor retention through identifying and networking with prospective funders and champions (influencers).
  • Maintain relationships with current funders (companies or individuals who influence funding decisions), with the goal of understanding their giving priorities, internal challenges to giving, what they value or want in return for their investment. 
  • Communicate with funders the value they receive for supporting TSPA, which may be customized based on the needs and priorities of the funder. 

Administration

  • Maintain TSPA’s funder database.
  • Track relevant funding metrics.
  • Oversee membership recruitment-rentention-renewal cycle.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following experience:

  • At least 5-10 years of active fundraising experience, with a preference for fundraising for membership organizations.
  • Experience managing corporate funders, with a preference for experience with tech funders.

For someone to thrive in this position, they will also have the following strengths and skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; skillful at building strong new and lasting relationships
  • Ability to articulate to funders value and impact of their giving
  • Can work independently as well as collaboratively with peers
  • Excels at working cross-functionally to align on shared strategy
  • Ability to manage and coach others (although this role doesn’t include managing direct reports, it may in the future)

Location

This is a fully remote position. The selected candidate will be expected to be available during the workday (Pacific Timezone) and occasionally outside of those hours to meet with colleagues or stakeholders who work outside of the U.S. Pacific Timezone. Applicants must be authorized to work for a U.S. employer. We are unable to sponsor work visas.

This position will require domestic (possibly international) travel, 3-6 times a year. 

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position will start at $175,000 USD. Other benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), life insurance, flexible work hours, unlimited PTO for full-time exempt employees, and participation in a Simple IRA with employer match plan after one year of employment.
