The Community Experience Trust & Safety Team’s goal is to ensure that the program is safe and enjoyable for our millions of organizers and members. We’re looking for a proactive and tenacious problem solver who has experience handling online trust and safety efforts; someone who understands the member’s point of view, has experience with content moderation, and working in a queue, and is passionate about using their combined technical, analytical, and customer service acumen to improve the Meetup experience.

This position will require exposure and review of sensitive and possibly explicit content that discusses or are of issues of discrimination, illegal activity, mature content, sexual content, or hateful and violent content.

As a Trust & Safety Specialist, your work will include:

  •  Investigating and resolving trust and safety issues, including policy enforcement, reviewing member reports and taking action based on those reports, reviewing reported content, abuse, and other violations.
  •  Identifying patterns and escalating matters to appropriate individuals and teams.
  •  Working through a large volume of reports and tickets quickly and efficiently with a focus on quality.
  • Monitoring and actioning on user-generated flags and reports like spam, discrimination, or other violations.

An ideal candidate has:

  •  Experience in a content moderation role, with an added focus on spam review.
  •  Previous experience in Trust and Safety, legal, tech policy, or risk mitigation role.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into simple, clear language.
  •  Working knowledge and understanding of cultural issues and political concerns in US.
  •  Understanding and demonstrated experience of data privacy needs, including GDPR/CCPA.
  •  Demonstrated experience in account verification and spam review.

Specific work this individual will be completing:

  •  Monitoring queues and identifying patterns.
  •  Reviewing member and group reports and taking appropriate action based on those reports.
  •  Identifying trends and working in a tool to mitigate policy violations on Meetup.
  •  Reviewing accounts for authenticity and actioning per workflow.
  •  Protecting users from spam, fraudulent activity, and harassment/discrimination.
