The Operations Manager has mastered the frontline skills in Etsy’s anti-counterfeiting program. This role helps ensure that our IP Program delivers on anti-counterfeiting goals, including standing up and improving automated controls, meeting operational goals and team-wide productivity metrics, and collaborating with internal and external partners. You identify, advocate for, and provide the resources your team needs to function quickly and efficiently. You communicate well about sophisticated, time-sensitive topics. You set a high standard for quality of work, completing initiatives at scale to ensure the marketplace is free of counterfeit goods and repeat offenders.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Legal Response and Enforcement and the base salary range will be 76,000 – 98,000 USD per year. What’s this team like at Etsy?
- Legal Response & Enforcement protects Etsy from intellectual property infringement and counterfeiting through a combination of proactive and reactive enforcement systems.
- We work closely with Legal, Product/Eng and Enablement, as well as Outsource and Brand partners to build scalable, sustainable systems and workflows that keep counterfeits off Etsy’s website, reduce their visibility, and remove IP infringing content when reported by rights holders.
- We are excited about the capabilities of and early results from image recognition in enabling counterfeit detection and removal. This role will be a key driver of the scaling and development of this capability.
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Working with T&S leadership and Legal to ensure vision & strategy are successfully carried out, and day-to-day decisions are aligned with our strategic goals.
- Prioritizing daily work according to queue volume, team risk matrix and critical metrics, collaborating effectively with outsource partners to set focus areas and shift team resources as this dynamic space requires.
- Serving as a point of contact and subject matter authority for anti-counterfeiting operations, collaborating across other teams as needed including leading new control creation, improvement and implementation of related workflows with BPO partners.
- Ensuring your team is optimally deployed to support Etsy members and third-party IP rights holders as quickly, fairly and efficiently as possible. This includes identifying and improving support paths and communications, continuously identifying process improvements, de-prioritizing non-critical work and advocating for automation as appropriate.
- Anticipating obstacles and reporting on operational opportunities and threats in advance. For example, you alert leadership when staffing does not meet unexpected volume, or to mitigate new emerging risks.
- Full understanding of the anti-counterfeiting program’s workforce capability and the impacts of operational decisions. This includes measuring team-wide productivity and performance, collaborating closely with partners and raising challenges to people managers as appropriate.
- Generating insights and support, you drive process innovation and work with leadership to develop and scale ideas.
- Aligning your behavior with Etsy’s Competency Matrix, Trust & Safety’s Enforcement Philosophy and leading by example.
- Triaging, validating, and supporting resolution of T&S-related bug reports via an established submission process, in partnership with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
- 3+ years experience in e-commerce policy and/or Trust & Safety.
- Autonomous time and project management, regularly delivering work-product beyond initial expectations. You’re strategic about leading problem solving as a process and are motivated to engage in these activities unprompted; proactively updating key partners and leadership along the way.
- Positive and professional representation of your team and organization. You help up-level the conversation and propose solutions beyond your immediate area of expertise.
- Teamwork and coordination of projects/processes across the Trust & Safety organization as well as with key partner teams, such as T&S Enablement, MSTS Product/Engineering, Legal and Member Services.
- Leadership, resilience, and sensitivity in navigating and implementing change.
- Strong cross-functional relationships. You are sought out by others for your expertise.
- To be successful in this role, the Manager will consistently meet productivity expectations, collaborate cross-functionally, lead peers and partner teams in process improvements aligned with strategic and operational goals, demonstrate proficiency in Etsy systems and processes, and exhibit key competencies for your level.
