About Pinterest:

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

We’re looking for a resilient, empathetic, and results-driven manager to help us enforce our IP policies and protect Pinners’ rights. You’ll manage a lean but committed team that answers copyright and trademark takedown requests, works directly with Pinners to answer their questions, and drives IP policy and process improvements. You’ll also get familiar with our escalation procedures, test and improve our tools and best practices, provide relevant context and feedback to teams building new features, and build relationships with the other teams who help keep Pinterest safe.

What you’ll do:

  • Be the main point of contact for all things IP Ops-related
  • Distribute work, on-call schedules, conference, and holiday coverage
  • Provide career growth advice, coaching, and constructive feedback to your team members
  • Work closely with Pinterest’s legal and engineering teams to create long-term strategies and short-term solutions for operational processes, tools, and policy gaps
  • Review copyright and trademark takedown requests, and serve as an escalation point for your team on particularly complex cases
  • Educate outside partners on how Pinterest works, from onsite functionality to our IP policies and best practices

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous people management or team lead experience
  • Previous experience in Intellectual Property, Legal, or Compliance operations or policy
  • Previous experience with copyright and/or trademark review (think copyright/trademark takedown requests)
  • Self-motivated and hard-working (both individually and with a small team) with the ability to think and communicate clearly and calmly under pressure
  • Be comfortable with gray areas and ambiguity, but also with making tough calls based on policy
  • Willingness to learn and iterate on complex policies with curiosity and openness
