Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical/quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience in risk, abuse, fraud, and/or data protection.
  • 2 years of experience in risk analysis, anti-abuse, fraud investigations/detection/prevention, data science, and/or data analysis.
  • Experience querying (e.g., SQL), building data pipelines/dashboards, and analyzing datasets.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or related fields.
  • 6 years of experience in coding (e.g., Python, Java), databases, and/or querying (e.g., SQL and MySQL).
  • Experience applying machine learning on datasets and defining and improving operational process.
  • Experience in complex engineering systems and processes. Experience with machine learning (e.g., regression, classification, clustering) on large datasets.
  • Experience collecting, managing, and synthesizing large data sets and information from disparate sources, statistical modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
  • Domain knowledge or interest in security, malware, phishing or related topics.

In this role, you will keep unwanted emails away from Gmail users while also ensuring our own systems are not abused. You will prevent spam, phishing, malware, and other abuse.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations to catch fraudsters, enforce our product policies, learn spam dynamics, and identify product vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize machine learning to scale, optimize, and automate our fraud abuse fighting efforts. Extract, transform, and analyze Google log data. Initiate and implement design of abuse protection integration.
  • Work with large data sets. Solve non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Managers, and Program Manager groups to develop and build anti-abuse protections and advising on counter-abuse strategies and develop requirement documents based on data analysis and product understanding.
