With the 2022 U.S. midterm elections only a few weeks away, researchers from the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public will join iSchool Alumni Relations for a special discussion. During this important conversation moderated by Kate Starbird, CIP Director and UW HCDE Associate Professor, CIP experts will share insights from the CIP’s ongoing work to identify and track emerging rumors, mis- and disinformation, and online narratives that may:
- suppress or reduce participation in voting,
- confuse voters, or
- delegitimize election results without evidence.
They will also discuss their work to create rapid-response research frameworks that support networked, collaborative, multi-stakeholder efforts to mitigate the impacts of election- and voting-related rumors, conspiracies, and mis- and disinformation.
