TrustCon and EMEA Summit 2025 | Program Committee Member Application

As part of its mission to support the global community of trust & safety professionals, TSPA hosts three annual conferences: the TSPA EMEA Summit, TrustCon, and the TSPA APAC Summit. These global conferences convene trust and safety experts from tech, civil society, academia, and government with the goal of knowledge building and networking. Each conference has a Program Committee (PC) comprised of volunteers from within the TSPA community working together to ensure the agenda features thoughtful, relevant, and timely content. At this time, we are seeking Program Committee members for the 2025 EMEA Summit and TrustCon 2025.

Apply to be a Program Committee Member

As a part of a TSPA Program Committee, you'll help select the panels, presentations, workshops, and roundtables featured at one of our conferences. In addition to shaping the conference’s agenda, you'll benefit from:

  • Meeting and working with other T&S professionals;
  • Learning more about topics related to T&S;
  • Supporting your peers as they present their work to the community;
  • Receiving public acknowledgement for your contributions.
  • Receiving a volunteer discount for TrustCon 2025 registration or complimentary registration for a Summit.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility as a member of the Program Committee will be as a peer reviewer. You'll be assigned a certain number of proposals to review and score. Then, you’ll meet with other reviewers assigned to the same group of proposals, discuss your scores, and decide which ones to accept, reject, or recommend for the revise and resubmit cycle.

You can also volunteer to shepherd submissions and/or be a Community Chair. If you choose to shepherd submissions, you’ll be working directly with proposal submitters during the revise and resubmit cycle to help them move their proposals to the acceptance stage. If you choose to serve as a Community Chair, you'll be involved in a range of tasks, including but not limited to mentoring newer reviewers, participating in submitter trainings, and giving feedback on the conference agenda. These are both optional responsibilities.

Time Commitment

Note: Time commitments are dependent on the number of proposals submitted and the number of Program Committee members. The information below is based on estimates from previous conferences.

TSPA Summits:

Minimum synchronous time commitment for peer reviewing: 3-6 hours
Minimum asynchronous time commitment for peer reviewing: 10-15 hours
Minimum total time commitment for peer reviewing: 13-21 hours

TrustCon:

Minimum synchronous time commitment for peer reviewing: 3-6 hours
Minimum asynchronous time commitment for peer reviewing: 15-20 hours
Minimum total time commitment for peer reviewing: 18-26 hours

Synchronous time will be spent on Google Meet with the entire Program Committee and with your smaller groups (who are assigned to the same proposals). Asynchronous time will be spent: reading and responding to emails; reading meeting notes; and reading, reviewing, and scoring proposals.

If you volunteer to be a shepherd and/or to be a Community Chair, you will have additional synchronous and asynchronous time commitments.

Criteria

To be a member of the Program Committee you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a TSPA member with an active profile in the TSPA Member Portal.
  • Be willing and able to meet the time commitments described above.
  • Be a current T&S professional or have past experience as a T&S professional.
